Tourist Visa

  • Original Passport, valid for at least six months from the intended date of arrival in Brazil. The passport must be signed and have at least 2 blank visa pages. Old passport, whenever available.
  • One recent photo, size 4cm x 5cm, in colour, front view, white background.
  • Demand Draft valid for 3 months.
  • Proof of an employment contract/work in India. If student, the proof of work should be replaced by a proof of school or university enrolment and attendance. If the applicant is retired, provide proof of retirement and/or pension payment slip. SIMPLE COPIES OR COMPUTER SCANS OF SUCH DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
  • Print out of Hotel Reservation in Brazil. When visiting relatives/ friends who reside in Brazil, present a notarized invitation letter from a Brazilian citizen, or foreigner with residence permit in Brazil, assuring the responsibility for housing and related expenses during the guest's stay in Brazil.
  • Proof of Financial Status and/or means of support during the applicant’s stay in Brazil: - 
    • Bank and/or credit card statements for the last three months. Bank statements need to be stamped and signed by Branch manager (manager id required on the stamp). SIMPLE COPIES OR COMPUTER SCANS OF SUCH DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
    • Evidence of applicant’s employment and leave. 
  • Print out of itinerary of a confirmed round trip ticket.
  • Special requirements for minors : Presentation of the original birth certificate or a notarized copy. Copies presented without the original birth certificate must be legalized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India.
    • Letter of Consent authorizing the visa to be issued to a minor travelling alone, with only one parent or with a third party, signed by both parents or legal guardians (in which case legal proof of guardianship is required) before a public notary. 
    • If the applicant is a student/ a minor: the proof of means of support during the applicants stay in Brazil must be presented by his/her parents.
    • if the minor is travelling with both parents, the letter can be waived.
      If applicant being adopted by a Brazilian national, please provide notarized copy of the judicial decision on the adoption and/or any other proof of the adoption process. Additionally, provide notarized copy of legal decision or notarized written authorization of both parents or guardians if the minor is travelling unaccompanied to Brazil or in the company of only one of the parents or guardians.
  • If applicant intends to take part in athletic competitions, performing arts events, conferences or seminars: Original letter from sponsor/organizer, with signature duly notarized in Brazil ("autenticada em cartório"), providing specific information on the activity to be performed and location and duration of the activity/event. The letter must state that the participant will not receive any payment and that no tickets will be sold for the event.
  • If applicant is a permanent resident but has an expired Brazilian ID card for Foreign Citizens (RNE); and a) is over the age of 60 years or b) is a person with special needs, please provide copy of the expired Brazilian ID card for Foreign Citizens (RNE).

If applicant is the bearer of a Permanent or Temporary Visa and has requested an extension of the visa or its conversion to a Permanent Visa, please present a notarized copy of the protocol issued by the Federal police of Brazil, by the Ministry of Justice of Brazil or by the National Council of Immigration (“Conselho Nacional de Imigração”).
 

 
VISITOR VISA - Transit (VIVIS)

  • Original passport, valid for at least six months after the intended arrival to Brazil. The passport must be signed and have at least 2 blank visa pages. Old passport, whenever available.
  • One recent photo, size 4cm x 5cm, in color, front view, white background.
  • Proof of financial status and/or means: Bank and/or credit card statements for the last three months; Evidence of applicant’s employment and leave.
  • A ticket for the destination country.
  • Visa for the country of destination, if applicant is required by such country to hold a visa.
  • Special requirements for minors : 
    • Presentation of the original birth certificate or a notarized copy. Copies presented without the original birth certificate must be Legalized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India.
    • Presentation of an Authorization for Brazilian Visa Issuance for Minors, signed by both parents or legal guardians (in which case legal proof of guardianship is required) at a public notary. If the applicant is a student/ a minor: the proof of means of support during the applicants stay in Brazil must be presented by his/her parents.

Business Visa

  • Original Passport, valid for at least six months after the intended arrival to Brazil. The passport must be signed and have at least 2 blank visa pages. Old passport, whenever available.
  • One recent photo, size 4cm x 5cm, in colour, front view, white background.
  • Original dispatch letter from the applicant's employer, addressed to the consular service of the Embassy of India in New Delhi, including the following information:
    • The employee's name and title.
    • Time of service for the company.
    • Monthly salary paid by the company to the applicant.
    • Contact person in Brazil.
    • Description of the business activities to be performed in a very clear, specific and detailed manner (generic descriptions might lead to delays and require the applicant to provide additional information and/or to appear for an interview at the Embassy).
      Intended duration of the stay.
    • Statement that the company shall assume full responsibility for the applicant while in Brazil and that the applicant will not exceed the legally authorized stay per visit.
    • Statement that the company will bear all the costs with the trip.
      Signature and stamp by a senior manager.
  • One-page invitation letter (original with signature notarized in Brazil - "autenticada em cartório") in Portuguese from a Brazilian company addressed to the consular service Embassy of Brazil in New Delhi, including the following information:
    • The name and the position that the applicant holds in the company.
      Clear, specific and detailed purpose of the trip and business activities which will be performed in Brazil.
    • Stamp the CNPJ number (tax registration code), address and telephone number of the Brazilian company.
  • Print out of itinerary of a confirmed round trip ticket with the hotel reservation.
  • Applicants intending to take part in the production/ filming of commercial or advertisement videos or motion pictures, with or without sound, in addition to the requirements listed above, they MUST submit a permit from the Ministry of Culture of Brazil Agência Nacional de Cinema (ANCINE - http://sif.ancine.gov.br/sig/empresascadastradas.jsp), which to be obtained by the interested party's agent/representative in Brazil (Brazilian partner or co-producer) prior to the visa application.

If the applicant is self-employed:

  • Bank letter stating his/her financial references.
  • Notarized Copy of the company’s registration.
  • In case of professional trader or investor, provide notarized brokerage notes for the last 6 (six) months.
  • WORK VISA (VITEM V): ALL WORK VISA APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN BRAZIL BY BRAZILIAN COMPANY. THE EMBASSY WILL ONLY ISSUE VISAS PRE-APPROVED BY THE MINISTRY OF LABOR..
  • Original Passport, valid for at least six months after the intended arrival to Brazil. The passport must be signed and have at least 2 blank visa pages. Old passport, whenever available.
  • One recent photo, size 4cm x 5cm, in colour, front view, white background.
  • Apostilled non-criminal certificate issued by applicant’s local Police Station within the past 90 days OR issued by MEA/CPV (in which case certificate does not need to be apostilled).
  • Letter from company/organization with the labour approval process number and applicants passport details.
  • Dependents of crew members need a letter from the ship captain signed, inviting and authorizing them to be on the ship

Processing

Current visa processing time: Average visa processing time for catogary VIVIS is 10-15 working days, work Visa: 7-10 working days and family reunion is 4 weeks. Some nationalities require prior approval by the Ministry of External Relations and longer processing time can be expected. (Provided all the documents are in order)

All submitted documents must be current and complete (in English). The incomplete documents submitted for the visa application may cause the application to be rejected. The Consulate General has the right to request additional documents when it deems necessary. Presenting of the above documents does not guarantee that the visa will be granted. The Consulate General reserves the right to refuse application without any explanation. There is no refund possibility in any circumstances.
